The Blokes’ Book

The Blokes Book is a listing of local health and community services as well as some basic advice for men.The booklet is 36 pages A5 (half the size of an A4 sheet).

Men Dealing with Stress

A completely free 16 hour (8×2 hour) programme, available to men in Kaiapoi, Rangiora and surrounding areas.

The only criteria are that you believe you would benefit from involvment and committ to the 6-8pm Wednesday might sessions. Whatever your situation, we will make it work for you.

The first course is planned to start at a venue in Kaiapoi on the 26th of January. There will be three courses in all with a maximum of 8 participants in each course.

A bibliography of research into men’s health has been produced by social work student Silas Thielmann, under the auspices of the Canterbury Men’s Centre. Take a look at your area of interest and see what is available.

Silas commented after producing it that “we were surprised at how much research has been done into New Zealand men; though still found some glaring gaps”.

Time to grow the mo’ again for those of you that are so inclined. The Canterbury Men’s Centre is forming a team though their staff have been informed by their partners that they aren’t allowed to grow one of “those things”. Last year’s CMC Mo’ team were treated to a few rounds of sedatives at the end of the event.
