Research by the CMC

We aren’t a research focussed agency. However, we support it where it meets our purposes. Please see the following;

  1. nzmenshealth.org.nz: This web site, maintained by the CMC, is a repository for research of varying quality that would otherwise have ended up inaccessible. If you have research into men’s health and well-being that would otherwise waste away in your filing cabinet pleas get in touch and we’ll post it here.
  2. Professional responses to male survivors of childhood sexual abuse: This paper was produced by our social work student, Silas Thielmann as a response to the belief by many professionals in the caring/mental health professions that it is harmful to engage with men about any childhood sexual abuse. The conclusion was quite the opposite.
  3. New Zealand Men’s Health Bibliography : produced by Silas Thielmann (see above), this summarises the existing research relevant to NZ men’s health and well=being as of 2010.
  4. How are your Men: We asked the 1,000 people in our database for feedback about how the men they are caring for (as well as men they know) doing in the aftermath of the earthquakes. Feedback in October 2012 can be found at How are Your Men Research Report . We produced a project plan based on this and it can be found here How are Your Men Projects
